I do not think I will ever try to see how fast my 79 will go. That is like me at age 46 trying see how fast I can run. I will leave that stuff to the bullet proof youngsters out there. I did a 110 last Sunday on a lonely mountain top road sorta by accident. I say sorta because the bike got there a lot faster than I expected. I was cruising about 65, planted myself to the seat and downshifted to third and it took it close to red-line; when i hit 4th i was well over 100. These bikes really pull and pull quick but they are not meant for much over 130 mph. I will save those speeds for my gixxer. 130 on my GSX-R1100 is cruising speed for that bike and 140 is as fast as I have ever gone on it even though it will top around 195 mph.
I really love my XS and it has quickly become my daily rider. These bikes handle well considering how old they are, I get more looks on this bike than I do my GSXR. I was talking to a young man of around 20 the other day, he could not believe the bike was a 79 model. I was in a store and he waited outside just to ask me questions about the bike. Pretty cool...
I love XS Eleven website as well because of the wealth of info out here. Keep up the good post. Well it is time to take the long way to work since it is a beautiful morning... OK... let's just call in sick and go for a ride!
