With regard to the "no support" in Australia. There are roads that go all the way around. There is fuel every 100 miles (160 km). I don't know what more support a person could need. :-) My brother-in-law warned me about my 4 corners trip too. He said that it couldn't be done without "support". He's from Australia. I guess we have stouter men here in the USA. I guess it just depends on your definition of "support". I lived in AU for a time, and the XS11 is/was a bike you could find on a regular basis. My only worry would be a catastrophic failure that would take more time to repair than I have available.
I could always rent a bike for the trip. I have seen one company that has goldwings for rent to tour Australia.

My next one is to ship my XS to Australia and circumnavigate it, on a 32 year old bike.

I met a fellow from a XS650 group who toured the US on a nearly 30 year old XS650, with his wife on the pillion, and pulling a trailer. They had quite an adventure. A buddy of mine told him he wanted to circumnavigate Australia on his 1972 XS650. The reply was, "Can't be done, mate. No support."

I'd like to see you do it! Or, at least, read about it here.

SO, IVE DONE THE FOUR CORNERS OF THE USA, GONE ALL THE WAY TO PRUDHOE BAY. Have I made any impression on this forum about what the XS1100 is still capable of? FYI 2010 I intend to enter the last 9 states on this same bike. Does anyone give a rats ass? I get that some are restoring the bike and making it beautiful, but I'm going out every year on trips that most would kill to do. No way I'd try that trip with a regular street tire. Well.. I might.. but I'd prefer a different one! lol.

We were up there in 2003 (not with bikes but a motorhome!). It is very spectacular wilderness. We did make it up to the Arctic Circle with a tour, the road is pretty rough, be careful, especially on a bike. !!

Check the sign out at Coldfoot, it states, Next Services 240 Miles! (Prudoe Bay/Deadhorse)

Not sure if you get to certain parts with the Oil Fields up there, a lot of it is closed off. Our company had a lot of equipment up there.
