700 maxim

It is an 86 s.
I registered on xj bikes but still cannot log in.
Maybe it takes a bit of time to be accepted?
Thanks for your input.
I will have to wait a week or so to really dig into it as the forecast
for the next week says it won't get above 20 degrees.
Non heated garage.
I do have space heaters but smelling propane isn't ideal,
And I get a little nervous as the gas tanks on the other bikes puff up and then whoosh as they cool back down.
I want to live long enough to enjoy the bikes that run.

I don't recall, as it's been a few years, how long registration takes over a XJbikes. It's a decent site and Chacal who runs XJ4Ever has every nut, bolt and washer for the bikes.

It'll be close to 60* here tomorrow with rain so not too bad in the man cave.

Yea, I figured that for the price I could salvage some things,
tires still have tits on them complete front end master cylinder.
I don't know if I mentioned but also picked up a wr 250 f
For my daughter (yea right)

Hi Joe,

Did a little quick lookin' over at XJ Bikes and seems to me the 700 shares alot of parts with the Virago such as forks, brakes, wheels, shocks, gauges and maybe a few others.
If the bike you got is an air head (not water cooled) then the carbs, maybe exhaust and a few others may work on the 650 but having them side by side is your best bet on comparison.
Yamaha was good at using parts from one model on another to help economize production.
What year is your 700 ?

Hello,
Just picked up a 700 maxim for almost nothing and was wondering if anyone knows
what parts might be interchangeable with the 650 maxim?
Electrical components,bottom end, head,wheels ect.
It sat outside for a couple years with two plugs out so I am doubtful
that the cyls/pistons are salvageable. Also would the coils work on one of my 11,s?
I might part it out so if anyone is looking for misc parts let me know.
No tank, sidecovers or instruments
