  • Honda Rebel Not Starting

    Hi all
My brother in law was given a 1985 Honda Rebel 250 that has been sitting for 12 years.
He brought it home and fired it up, but could not keep it running. The throttle cable was stuck. He got the throttle cable working correctly now.
It has new spark plugs and battery.
The problem now is that it only makes a clicking sound when he hits the start button. Any ideas on what it could be?

First thing would be to check that something in the engine or tranny did not sieze. See if it turns over by hand. IF ti dies, then look over a wiring diagram and see if you have a short somewhere in the circuit.

Also, find the starter solenoid and try jumping across it, or even running a large jumper wire straight from the battery to the positive lead connection to the starter. This will let you know if the starter itself is the issue.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.
