I just recently discovered a lonely '82 650 Maxim sitting on the side of the road with a for sale sign taped to it. Somehow or another it followed me home and I kept it.
I have been through all of the usual stuff, cleaned the carbs, new battery, new fluids, etc. Get it running very well except for two things. One is the front brake MC, it is a complete loss. Does not even appear to be for this bike, is cracked and has no piston or anything else in it. Not too big a problem for me, will just get another somewhere and replace it.
The biggest problem I am having (as I have not recieved my shop manual as of yet) is that there is an air tap on the left fork for adding air to the forks. This I understand but what I don't is that it appears to be on there improperly. It hits the gas tank when you turn the forks to the left and will not let you get the forks all the way over. I have been able to rotate the upper fork and the air tap away from the tank some but it still hits and it cannot be rotated any further.
I have taken a couple of pictures of the offending device but photobucket is in one if its moods and will not let me log on at this time so I cannot get it to post here. I will try again later to see if their mood has improved.
In the meanwhile, does anyone know what this problem may be?
