I have a needle that I can use a grease gun and inject grease into the bearings whenever I change tires. Only had 1 front bearing go bad so far.

Hey Greg-

In another 2-3 weeks, my bikes are coming out of storage. Question for you: how often are wheel bearings changed on these bikes? I presume I'll want to pull the dust seals and rotate the bearings by hand (no notchy/gritty feel=good to go?)

I know this was for Greg but when the wheel has any small bit of looseness felt when gripped at 3 &9 or 12 & 6 o'clock while suspended in the air I change mine. I don't wait til they get worn bad enough to feel it in the rotation.
You can use a pick and carefully pull the sealed bearings seal and clean the old grease out and add new.

Got The Hornet up on the lift working on it a little at a time. Was looking at the tires and the dates, these are the same tires that were on it when I sold it I think. the front one definitely.

Born on date of 24/07 on front and 18/13 on the rear.

2 bikes rolled through town yesterday, i almost cryed...

Road salt is a killer on aluminum and chrome. those poor bikes..

but at 45 degree's it was tempting to ride.

thankfully, winter won't last much longer and we'll all be back on 2 wheels.

Hey, Greg! That's wonderful news!

I bought an SG real cheap with destroyed carburetors. No ohm aftermarket coils were installed. That took out the ignition unit, so the carbs got wrecked.

Resistance is futile, you will be immolated!

No. No spark. So, the carburetors had to be the problem, right? They were damaged in troubleshooting.

CongratsGreg on saving the Hornet! I am glad you got it back and at a discount - I know you liked it the best and hated to see it go in the first place but none of us have unlimited space or resources.

Wish I still had all the old parts - I still have a lot but unfortunately a left side cover is not one. Just a right from an 80 is all I could find as far as extra covers.

I am going to see if Ryan will help me finally get my brakes fixed and give the bike a going over this Christmas so I can get back on the road after this Winter. I am thinking its time.
