  • Time for a new tire on the FJR

A couple of weekends ago I went on an 1100 mile ride through Oregon with some friends. I knew the rear tire on the FJR was about done, but I think I cut it a little to close. The funny thing is I had been checking it throughout the ride, and last looked at it about 150 miles from home, and there was no sign of what you see here. It looked fine, but the last bit was high speed and close to 100 degrees ambient outside air temperature. Yikes!

I got almost 7K out of the Bridgstone Battlaxes. I ordered a Shinko 009 Raven, and am hoping for a bit more longevity out of it.

It cracks me up how much lighter the whole wheel assembly is than the XS1100. Also note the ABS ring. Technology marches on.

Ya think that final drive will bolt up to the XS? Oh well, even if it did there's no place to bolt up the shock.
