  • Do not discount marine foul weather gear

A couple of days ago I had to make a 40 to 50 mile run to get a replacement sandblaster hopper and gun. I left about 20 min before sunset and the temp was a bearable 76 degrees. I was riding in shorts, t-shirt, and sneakers. By the time I got to may destination the temp dropped about 10 degrees and I was freezing, particularly going at about 70mph. (I know, what a pussy compared to you northen diehards. But your blood thins out down here.) The point is that a few days earlier due to the unpredictable rain we'd been having here, I threw the bike in a 3/4 zippered lined foul weather jacket my ex had given me about 10 years ago and never worn. It's an RL Chaps dealy with a flap over the zipper and high velcro closure collar and all, and let me tell you it made all the difference in the world. Once I tucked my legs close to the engine for warmth 80 to 90mph were no problem. This kept all the wind out while preserving my body heat. So motorcycle specific foul weather gear is not the only solution. Inclement weather in a marine environment is pretty brutal as well. Just putting another alternative out the for you folks.
