Some of you know that I'm involved with a Concours charity event. Here is the latest information for the 2007 event. Your all invited!

The Eighth Annual Riding Into History

Riding Into History, one of America’s premier motorcycle events, will return to the World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Florida on May 19, 2007. The event will feature Charity Rides, a Concours d’Elegance, the Biker’s Ball and the Historic Ride. All of the proceeds from Riding Into History will benefit the Buddy Check 12 breast cancer charity, a partnership between Baptist Health and First Coast News.

The event is presented by the Riding Into History Committee, which is comprised of volunteer members from the Atlantic Beach Vintage Motorcycle Club (ABVMC) and the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Northeast Florida (BMWNEF).

Between 300 and 400 antique, vintage and classic motorcycles from all over the country are expected to enter the Concours, which will feature The Sexy Motorcycles of Italy. Thousands of spectators are once again expected to enjoy the event which also includes exhibitors, entertainment, clubs and a variety of food. Admission is still only $10 at the gate for the Concours. Various packages are available for the Biker’s Ball and the Charity Rides, and they will be posted on the website after January 1, 2007.

The Grand Marshal for this year’s event will be Kel Carruthers, former Grand Prix Road Race World Champion on a 250cc Benelli. He is also a two-time winner at the Isle of Man, and manager of the teams on which Kenny Roberts won three consecutive 500cc World Championships.

Peter Egan, the 2006 Grand Marshall said, “The big shaded circular promenade at World Golf Village is the best place I've ever seen for a bike show.”

The 2005 Grand Marshal Dennis Gage noted, “With the World Golf Village as its backdrop, this is the premiere motorcycle Concours d'Elegance in North America.”

Perhaps Craig Vetter, the 2004 Grand Marshal summed it up best when he said, “A good cause, good people and good bikes. It doesn't get any better than that."

Internationally known motorcycle artist Don Bradley will once again provide the original artwork for the posters, which have become collectors’ items. Posters, t-shirts and other items will be available at RidingIntoHistory.org and at the event.

Sponsorships for the event are available by contacting the RIH Committee. Current sponsors include Jacksonville PowerSports, Miller BMW of Tallahassee and Sargent Cycle Products.

The World Golf Village is located just north of St. Augustine on I-95, exit 323.
